Proactis 2
Server Requirements
Proactis 2.10.2 and later require the following server configuration:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 / 2005 / 2008 / 2008R2 / 2012;
A shared folder for print format files;
A shared folder for import mapping files (if Proactis Monitoring & Import is used).
If running Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later:
the database compatibility level may be set to 80, 90 or 100 as preferred;
the date format on all UDO prints (set within Proactis) must be set to use: “dd/MM/yyyy” (the ‘MM’ must be in uppercase);
Your ‘sa’ password should be in uppercase for the duration of any use of Proactis Database Manager (depending on exact build of Proactis in use);
Your SQSDBA (and/or DSDBA) passwords may need to be in uppercase (depending on exact build of Proactis in use).
Proactis 2.8.2 to 2.10.1 require the following server configuration:
Microsoft SQL Server 7 / 2000 / 2005*;
A shared folder for print format files;
A shared folder for import mapping files (if Proactis Monitoring & Import is used).
* For servers running Microsoft SQL Server 2005:
the database compatibility level must be set to “SQL Server 2000 (80)”;
the date format on all UDO prints (set within Proactis) must be set to use: “dd/MM/yyyy” (the ‘MM’ must be in uppercase);
Your ‘sa’ password should be in uppercase for the duration of any use of Proactis Database Manager (depending on exact build of Proactis in use);
Your SQSDBA (and/or DSDBA) passwords may need to be in uppercase (depending on exact build of Proactis in use).
Network Requirements
To run Proactis 2 we recommend direct wired network connectivity. Access via broadband is possible, but can be slow. Proactis Extra is under development to allow faster remote working.
Broadband or better connectivity to the network is sufficient for users of Proactis Extra, Proactis Data Mining or the Proactis Requisition Wizard.
To run the Proactis 2.10.2 or later client you need a PC which has:
At least 512Mb memory;
Microsoft Windows 2000, XP or 7 (see note following ‘Platforms’ below);
Microsoft Word version 8 (Word 97) or later for printing using user-defined output. Word 2000 or later is recommended;
Database connectivity is via standard Microsoft ADO version 2.8.
To run the Proactis 2.10.1 or earlier client you need a PC which has:
At least 512Mb memory;
Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP (see note following ‘Platforms’ below);
Microsoft Word version 8 (Word 97) or later for printing using user-defined output. Word 2000 or later is recommended. 64-bit versions of MS Office are not supported;
If using Outlook 2010, a default mail service and a default data service must be specified;
For Proactis 2.10.1 and earlier, Microsoft SQL Server Client appropriate to the version for SQL Server on the server*. Only the ‘Client Connectivity’ components are required.
* For servers running Microsoft SQL Server 2005, the SQL Server 2000 client software is required to run Proactis 2.8.2 to 2.10.1. The SQL Server 2005 client software need not be installed. This is because PowerBuilder version 9.0 does not recognise the ‘SQL Server 2005 native client’.
Proactis 2.10.2 and later does not need the MS SQL Server Client Connectivity, because we have used a different method for database connectivity.
